Remembering Michael Jackson

August 29, 1958 – June 25, 2009

One of the best dance breaks ever — even better than Thriller in my opinion.

What are your favorites?

I love this one, but Thriller will always be my drop-dead favorite.

Thriller was released when I was in 8th grade. About 30 of us learned the entire choreography for the school’s talent show, with a fella named Highland McCoy playing Michael. Now, Highland was about 6′, and he wore dreads instead of Michael’s signature curls, but dude had the MOVES, so we rolled with a bit-too-tall Michael and spent 3 months rehearsing. We brought down the house.

(I’m 40 now, and can STILL do the Zombie Dance!)

Billie Jean gets my vote. To that incredible spin, and also the never duplicated on-the-toes move, I never get tired of watching it.
