Zezé Motta, Brazillian Actress, Beautiful Woman

Via applebrownbetty: This is Zezé Motta, best known as the first black actress to come to major prominence in Brazil.  I saw her profiled on Henry Louis Gate’s latest docu-series, Black in Latin America. 

It struck me that even as she told Dr. Gates how the producers thought she was “too ugly” to portray Xica da Silva that she was confronting the ridiculousness of that statement by just sitting there being gorgeous.
