We Broke A Record
According to WordPress I’ve had over 11,000 hits today, making it my best day ever since this blog started! I’m really surprised since the best day I had previously was in February 2007 when I put up the Barack Obama Church Post of DOOM (10,000 hits that day, but closer to 11,000 for the 24 hours after the post went up). Even “Thank You, White People” didn’t get me 11,000 in a day (we got close, I believe. Somewhere around 7 or 8K). I guess the topic resonates.
Also interesting, with all these hits have come very few trolls. There are about 15 or so comments from the usual suspects plus some SASS folks, but nothing like the level of crazy we got after “Thank You, White People”. And these trolls aren’t even interesting. Just blah blah fatty blah blah you’re black blah blah wank wank. Do they really think they can hurt my feelings after I came out on the other side of a Stromfront attack? *snerk* Amateurs.
However, it has parked a post idea, which will come tomorrow, I think: How To Deal With Online Harassment.
The idiots don’t seem to understand that they’re irrelevant on this site…
Just like they’re irrelevant in real life!
Which is why they have to get on the internet and make themselves feel like they have balls! No girlfriend, no influence, no life…Shit, I’m sure that would make any emasculinated troll feel like more of a “manly man” over the internet!
Word to the trolls – try a new method. The whole fatty, nigger, etc., shit – GREW OLD IN THE 3rd GRADE!
You are not edgy or cute. You’re just pathetic. Get off the internet and at least make an attempt at making yourself matter.
I hope you write that post. I am obviously too small and insignificant a blogger to be harassed, but I read about it a lot. I want to support harassed bloggers.

I haven’t been here very long so this may not be the best observation but from the little I’ve seen I think the reason you haven’t gotten too many trolls is for two reasons:
1. Actual discussion – Lots of blogs claim to be “thought provoking”, “insightful”, and all that but most are nothing more than looking for a choir to preach to.
2. Reaction to disagreemnt – This is a big one and I have experienced it first hand here. From what I’ve seen here when someone disagrees you don’t just bombard them with personal attacks unless the “disagreement” was merely a personal attack. (By all means if it was then fire away.) You (and the regulars here) instead break down the statement and show why it is wrong like you folks did to me back in the Catcalling thread.
But thats just my opinion mind you.

I know, right! Another thing they seem not to have groked is that I’m not actually part of the fat acceptance movement. I guess they assume that anyone upset about this must be. As if “other” people would just shrug their shoulders and not care. Or as if people who aren’t in that movement or have “normal” bodies (according to their narrow and simple-minded definition of such) look on “fat” people with as much disgust and disdain as they do.
